Summit BHC is the parent company for Waypoint Recovery Center (SC), Willingway (GA), Twin Lakes (GA) and 6 more residential A&D treatment facilities located in PA, LA, CA, & TX. I am on Summit BHC's National Clinical Outreach team representing and working with all of these facilities. My primary role is to help facilitate the best facility fit for clients in need of residential treatment given clinical need, location, and resources.

Ms. Burton specializes in assisting family members of people with addiction, as well as individuals and couples with depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, traumatic brain injuries and stroke. Her treatment approach uses cognitive behavioral techniques combined with mindfulness practice and solution focused approaches. She describes her philosophy as being like a road sign on the road of life offering clients different directions to reach or develop their goals.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I offer children, families, and adults a safe and accepting environment to explore and gain a better understanding of the issues most affecting their lives. Rather than solely focusing on behaviors or symptoms, I work with individuals and families on gaining insight and understanding into the various underlying causes of their thoughts, feelings, and actions. It is only then that meaningful and long-lasting change is possible.
As an art therapist I integrate the fields of human development and visual art with models of counseling and psychotherapy to provide art therapy services to clients of all ages and abilities. I use a collaborative, strengths-based approach that draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities to meet each individuals need.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addictions Counselor, and Registered Yoga Teacher. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Theater, Speech, and Dance, and my Masters in Social Work; both from The University of South Carolina. My counseling work is further informed by my experience as a professional ballet dancer, father, and person in long- term recovery.
